Royce grew up on a family farm near Wartburg, TN.  His family had chickens, hogs, cows, and other farm animals throughout his early years.  As his father got older and unable to take care of the animals, they were sold and the family farm sat dormant for several years.  During this time, Royce attended the University of Tennessee where he met Judy.   Royce and Judy got married and had three boys; Bryan, Kevin, and Michael.  Royce was also teaching school full-time.

After the kids were grown, the family farm was still not being used for anything.  All this changed in 2003 when Michael got his first cow.  Michael also built a chicken house and got his first set of chickens.  Royce was now helping to take care of the cows and chickens.  Soon after, Cross Brothers Enterprises, LLC was formed and Royce was fully involved with hay baling, taking care of the cattle, gathering eggs, and any number of other farm chores. 

When not working on the farm, Royce continues to teach and enjoys spoiling his grandson and will soon be spoiling his new granddaughter.

Judy grew up as a "city girl" in Knoxville, TN.  Her father was an executive with Esso and eventually Exxon.  Judy did have farming in her background however, as her mother grew up on a large farm in northern Mississippi.  Judy went to the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, where she met Royce.  They were married and moved to the Cross family farm near Wartburg where she began teaching school and raising a family.

After Michael started his journey with farming, Judy became more and more interested.  In 2006, when Cross Brothers Enterprises, LLC was formed, she and Royce became part owners and took a stake in the day to day operations.  After some persuasion, we now have Judy running tractors, hay mower, and hay tedders.  She is driving the truck hauling hay from the fields and takes an active part in all the farm activities.

When Judy isn't teaching high school business, she is helping spoil her grandson and will soon be spoiling her new granddaughter.

Judy obtained her Master Beef Certification in 2012.
